In Revelation 20 it is written," and I saw the dead small and great stand before God and the books were opened and another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. ... and they were judged even man according to their works. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Verses concerning your soul returning to our Father upon your death are written in Ecclesiastes 12:7: Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Luke 16 defines a condition for those returning souls who are not in good standing according to their works.
