A DVD ROM is a "Read only Memory*" it is the disk itself and as such it cannot burn anything.
A DVD reader can only read DVDs.
A DVD writer can write som recordable DVD formats.
A DVD-ROM drive has one lens for DVD disk's reading only. Burning lenses are different. But if the drive is a Combo drive then the problem must be with lens so you must clean the lens with DVD LENS...
