you cannot play a DVD in a CD-rw. a DVD, although similar to a CD is different and can only be read by a DVD drive. you will need to purchase a DVD drive
Most newer ones can, but older ones cannot. Unlike a CD-R, their file system layout is different from that of a pre-pressed CD-ROM. Look for a CD-RW logo on the CD player or stereo you want to use....
Dvd is different kind of storage disc even though it looks same as CD. Hence cd-rw cannot write dvd,while usually dvd-r or dvd-rw will be having facility to write on a cd.
